The following means of transportation are at your service:

Private Cars & Vans

May be booked through any tour operator, travel agency or through your hotel. Average price is P2,000.00 for the whole day, inclusive of a private chauffeur.

Bus

Regular buses ply the major routes and highways. As with jeeps, it is wise to ask the driver or conductor whether the bus will pass by the destination before getting on. Also, regularly inform the conductor of your destination so that he can tell the bus driver to stop.

Prices vary, although bus owners usually collect a minimum fee of P50.00 per hour, per passenger, air-conditioned bus.

Jeepney

Seating anywhere from 10 to 20 passengers, open-air jeeneys are the most common from of public transport for secondary streets and shot routes. Jeepney were originally converted American military jeeps. However, most jeepneys today are locally manufactured with surplus engines and transmission components being the main imported parts. Jeeps can readily be spotted on the Laoag City with their bright colors, ornamented hoods, and daredevil driving methods. Their destination points as well as common stops are indicated on signboards at both sides of the main chassis. Any passenger should be prepared for a hot and dusty ride, although somewhat eventful.

Colorful utility vehicles plying the common routes. Fee is P2.50 per kilometer. Even long-time Laoag City or other towns residents do not know all the jeepney routes and major stops; if unsure, always ask the driver whether he is passing by the place where you want to go and then tell him to inform you when you get there.

Tricycle

The easiest to get around town, especially if only a short distance is involved. A P3.00 payment is charge for the first 5 kilometers, after which, it is negotiable. Higher rates are charged for outside city are charged for outside city limits. To avoid any misunderstanding, we suggest that you and the driver agree on the fare before embarking on the journey.

Calesa

Calesas, or horse-drawn carriages, dominated Laoag City streets before the advent of motorized. Today, there are lots of them found on sidestreets in Laoag City. Fare are normally P3.00 for a short ride, but tourists often get charged higher rates.

Pump Boats

Popular "bancas" that make island exploring a delightful adventure. Average price is P150.00 per hour, although you can haggle your way on a slow day.
